*The event has already taken place on this date: Sat, 07/10/2021
3-strike Pinball Tournament! The Waterland Free Pinball Tournament is designed to welcome new players to competitive pinball, but all are welcome to enter. Tournament sign-up is free, but there are still prizes to be won! This pinball tournament will begin at 3 pm each Saturday. We expect the finish time to vary between 6 pm and 7 pm depending upon the number of players and other factors. We strive to keep the tournament moving at a good pace.
Please help us keep this calendar up to date! If this activity is sold out, canceled, or otherwise needs alteration, email mindy@kidsoutandabout.com so we can update it immediately. If you have a question about the activity itself, please contact the organization administrator listed below.
Waterland Arcade opens at 2 pm on Saturdays. Tournament sign-ups will begin no later than 2:30 pm.
For those looking for higher stakes, check out our $5 buy-in 3-strikes tournament at 8pm, later the same day.
ENTRY FEES AND PRIZES
This tournament is free to enter.
Players are responsible for paying their own coin drop for each tournament game played. Prices range from 50 cents to $1 per game depending on the machine.
Note that Waterland's $8 cover charge only applies to those who play arcade games which are set on free play.
The two finishers will win fun prizes.
The first person to earn 3 strikes will win a small consolation prize from Waterland's fine selection of merchandise!
You cannot win the consolation prize by forfeiting.
TOURNAMENT RULES
In the first round of the tournament, each player will be randomly matched with an opponent for a head-to-head game. Any odd person out receives a first round bye. In subsequent rounds, players will be matched head-to-head with another player having a similar number of losses.
Each loss counts as a strike. Once a player has earned 3 strikes, that player is out of the tournament. The last person standing with fewer than 3 strikes wins the tournament. The loser of the final match wins second place. A tie-breaker for 3rd will be played if required.
Do not play extra balls that the machine may award. You may touch the machine (including buttons) before plunging an extra ball, but not after plunging.
The tournament director will decide how to handle any machine malfunctions or disputes.
Waterland uses the matchplay.events web site to run the tournament.
This tournament is not an IFPA-sanctioned event.
SOCIAL DISTANCING
We require all players and customers to wear face masks covering both mouth and nose. Masks may be temporarily removed while eating or drinking while away from the games.
Any player who is waiting for their turn must remain at a safe distance from the games. If the arcade is at capacity, then some players may have to wait outside.
Hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes will be available for free throughout the arcade.
Be sure to sanitize the coin slot area prior to inserting coins. Each time the active player changes, players must sanitize the game being played including all buttons and any other high-touch areas. To be certain that your game is sanitized, you should wipe it down yourself prior to playing each ball, unless you watched the other player do it for you.
Weather permitting, the roll-top garage door will be open to allow for a high level of ventilation. Waterland uses a carbon dioxide (CO2) meter which provides a continuous measure of ventilation quality.
DRIVING
Waterland does have some street parking and some off-street parking.
We are closer to Seattle than most people think!
Waterland Arcade is 15 to 19 miles from downtown Seattle depending on the route that you take. Depending on traffic, it typically takes from 20 to 35 minutes on a Saturday afternoon. We recommend that you use Google Maps or WAZE when planning your route.
Waterland is 20 miles from Tacoma, Washington and it typically takes 22 to 35 minutes to drive from there.
By comparison, some of the other arcades that you may visit such as 8-Bit Arcade in Renton and Another Castle Edmonds are only 3 miles and 5 minutes closer to downtown Seattle. Give us a try!
